Classical Ballet
Sophisticated dance form distinguished by precise, highly formalized steps and gestures, performed in harmony with music. It's characterized by light, fluid movements and the distinctive use of pointe shoes, contributing to its grace and elegance. This balance of stringent technique and emotive expression transforms ballet into a vivid storytelling platform, encapsulating a wide range of human experiences.
Lyrical
is a distinctive form of dance that emerged from the no longer practiced Russian lyrical dances, also known as Soviet ballroom dances. This style of dance harmoniously combines the precision of ballet techniques with the grace of Soviet ballroom dance patterns. The term 'lyrical' denotes the poetic and rhythmic nature of the movements, which seamlessly transition from one step to the next.
Pointe
refers to a specific aspect of classical ballet technique where a ballet dancer balances their entire body weight on the very tips of their feet, encased in specially designed shoes known as pointe shoes. The term 'en pointe' is used when a dancer achieves this balance. Moreover, an entirely stretched foot is considered 'en pointe' when it makes contact with the ground, regardless of whether it's supporting the dancer's weight or not.
